قصة الفيلم:

أثناء البحث عن سبب تدهور الشعاب المرجانية في أستراليا، تتلقى عالمة الأحياء البحرية آبي كلمة من والدتها المسنة دورا. وبينما تذهب إلى مسقط رأسها على شاطئ البحر لرعاية والدتها، يتذكر آبي سنوات طفولتها التي قضتها في العيش مع المحيط، وجهود والدتها لحماية الخليج من رجال الاعمال الجشعين والصيادين الغازيين على حد سواء، وغالبا ما يضر بعلاقتهما الخاصة. من بين الحدائق المرجانية، تصادق آبي سمكة نادرة، والجروبر الأزرق – المسمى “بمودة Blueback”، وهو مفتاح تذكير آبي ودورا بحبهما لبعضهما البعض والمياه التي يسمونها الوطن. استنادًا إلى رواية تيم وينتون لعام 1997 التي تحمل نفس الاسم، يعد Blueback فيلمًا معقدًا وعاطفيًا عن شغف الأم والابنة بالمحيط وبعضهما البعض.
